Anaesthesia Specialist Dr Alex Dugdale Joins Paragon
We are delighted to have appointed a highly-experienced specialist to our expert team.
RCVS and EBVS specialist in anaesthesia and analgesia Dr Alex Dugdale has joined the team here at Paragon.
Dr Dugdale has more than 30 years’ experience in the profession and says she is excited by her new role at the state-of-the-art £5m hospital.
Dr Dugdale said: “I’m delighted to be a part of Paragon’s dedicated and dynamic team which continues to keep abreast of new developments at the forefront of all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery.
“I’m committed to upholding the highest possible standards of patient care and ensuring delivery of a clinical anaesthesia and analgesia service to all disciplines within the hospital.
“I’ll also be helping with emergency and critical cases and working closely with the expert vets and nurses to share my ever-evolving knowledge and skills to provide the best possible care for Paragon’s patients and to help teach the next generation of vets and nurses.
“My key interests include all aspects of anaesthesia and analgesia, applied nutrition and endocrinology, and, throughout my career I’ve always been intrigued by the metabolic consequences of obesity in both humans and animals.”
After qualifying in 1990, Alex worked in mixed practice in Lancashire for six years, during which she gained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia in 1993.
She then undertook a residency in veterinary anaesthesia and critical care at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, which was followed in 1999, by a move to Liverpool University’s Veterinary School. She remained for 17 years, first as lecturer and then as senior lecturer in veterinary anaesthesia.
Alex gained both the Dip.ECVAA and the RCVS DVA in 2001, and has been an EBVS specialist in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia since 2001 and an RCVS specialist in veterinary anaesthesia since 2006.
Paragon’s multi-disciplinary care includes anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery.
