”Endless Teaching and Further Training” – Why become an RVN at Paragon

Danielle White, RVN at Paragon explains why she enjoys working for Paragon Referrals…

”I’ve been working in practice for 11 years and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse 5 years ago. I took the diploma route which meant I could work full time gaining experience alongside doing my studies.

I support owners and their pets through the difficult diagnosis of cancer, I perform blood tests, administer chemotherapy, monitor them under anaesthetic whilst they have their staging scans and support the oncologist with any treatments/check ups.

Working for Paragon Referrals in West Yorkshire gives us access to lots of support being a Linnaeus referral nurse, with endless teaching and further training in house if that’s something you’re interested in, and lots of support around mental health and well-being which I think is really important in a job like this.

The most rewarding thing for me is knowing I’ve really made a difference to the patients and their owners whilst they are undergoing treatment, especially within my role as an oncology nurse. A diagnosis of cancer can be a scary one but if I can make that a little less daunting and reassure them then I know I’ve done a good job.

I love the close bond I get with my patients and it’s so rewarding to be able to help them live a normal, happy life for as long as possible even whilst they undergo cancer treatments such as chemotherapy. ”
