Jennifer Farrar

Jennifer Farrar

Surgical Animal Care Assistant

It wasn’t until after I graduated University with an Art degree that I realised I wanted to work with animals. I managed to secure a position at Small Animal first opinion practice in Dewsbury where I worked as an animal care assistant for a year and fell in love with the profession. I learnt so much at the first opinion practice but wanted to learn more and also have the opportunity to progress in a teaching practice so I came to work at Paragon as a surgical ACA.

In the next few years I hope to secure a position on the rotational ACA team and eventually go to college to train and become a qualified RVN.

My art degree hasn’t gone completely to waste however as in my spare time I run a little business painting pet portraits.

Amy Wright

Amy Wright

Animal Care Assistant

Since a very young age I have always known that I wanted to work with animals.

I volunteered at Calder Vets for a total of 3 years around 10 years ago. I then went to college to study Animal Behaviour and Welfare and then to Chester University to further my knowledge. I now have a Bsc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare which I am very proud of.

In 2017 I travelled on my own to South Africa for 1 month to volunteer. I stayed in Hartebeespoort where they filmed Wild At Heart. I cared for and worked alongside larger mammals such as Giraffes, Elephants, Lions and Tigers. I helped with the raising of 3 lion cubs that’s mother was killed by poachers. This was a trip of a lifetime that I’ll never forget.

I have 2 dogs, Winnie and Chester and 1 cat, Leroy. If we’re not all going out on walks together, we’re all snuggled up on the sofa.
