Just 20 years ago, there were very few options when a pet was diagnosed with cancer. Today, veterinary cancer treatment continues to make huge advances and conditions which were not treatable can now be sent into remission.
Treatments we offer include:
- Traditional therapies such as surgery and chemotherapy
- Advanced approaches such as immunotherapy, gene-therapy and molecular targeted therapy
Our elite veterinary oncology team works side-by-side with you and your primary care vet, offering compassionate and comprehensive cancer treatment for cats and dogs.
Your initial consultation is usually performed remotely to allow us to work out the best pathway of care for your pet. These will usually last from 20 to 60 minutes, where we will take a thorough history and any results we have from your vet. We will always discuss potential costs, outcomes and risks. Following this consultation we will discuss options, which may include admit to the hospital for further investigation and/or treatment, or consultation with another service for definitive treatment, e.g. our soft tissue surgery team. We have extensive hospitalisation facilities to care for your pet if they do need to stay with us.
Care and safety
Our pet oncology service boasts a £12,000 cytotoxic safety cabinet, which shields our team from exposure to toxic drugs and promotes safety for both people and pets.
The Envair CytoFAST Elite cabinet makes our cancer unit one of the safest in the country, as most practices are not equipped with an appropriate biosafety cabinet.
The safety standards employed at Paragon adhere to an ‘abundance of caution’ approach for both our pet patients and our staff.
Frances Taylor

Frances worked in both general practice and referral hospitals following her graduation from the University of Bristol in 1998. After completing an internship, she went on to complete a four year residency at the University of Cambridge, where she stayed on to work in veterinary oncology for another year at the University.
Since 2011, having gained Specialist status Frances has been working as a Specialist veterinary oncologist in referral practices.
With a specific interest in all areas of feline and canine oncology, Frances works closely with the wider multi-disciplinary teams at Paragon Referrals to create a specific treatment plan for each individual patient.
In her spare time, Frances enjoys seeing friends, gardening and walking in the Peak District.
