Ophthalmology involves the diagnosis and treatment of conditions involving the eyes. Our highly qualified team is passionate about the care of animals, so you can rest assured your pet will receive the highest quality of treatment at all times.
Pets with existing or suspected eye conditions will receive an initial consultation, which will usually last between 10 – 40 minutes, during which time we will take a thorough history and examine your pet carefully.
Detailed examination of the eyes requires the use of additional instrumentation to aid in the diagnosis of your pet’s condition. Some will be used in the consultation, but others may require your pet to be admitted for further investigation.
We will suggest ways to treat the problem and discuss potential costs, outcomes and risks, including complications. Assuming you agree to treatment, your pet will need to be left with us for immediate investigation. Once the investigation has been carried out, we will contact you with the results. If appropriate, we can proceed straight to treatment. Common conditions referred to our ophthalmic vets include:
- Eye ulcers
- Cataract removal
- Glaucoma (increased eye pressure)
- Cherry eye
- Dry eye
