Our team of highly-experienced veterinary orthopaedic surgeons treat skeletal and joint conditions in dogs and cats, and are led by the only registered specialist in the region devoted solely to orthopaedics.
Headed by European and RCVS specialist Turlough O’Neill, we focus on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a vast range of orthopaedic conditions in cats and dogs and have extensive experience in small animal surgery.
Your initial consultation will usually last from 20 to 60 minutes, where we will take a thorough history and examine your pet. We will always discuss potential costs, outcomes and possible risks.
Your pet may need to stay with us for investigation and treatment after the consultation. We have extensive hospitalisation facilities to care for your pet if they do need to stay with us.

Our orthopaedic veterinary surgeons benefit from exceptional facilities on-site:
- State of the art operating facilities including intra-operative imaging (C-arm fluoroscopy and DR X-ray).
- State of the art-imaging suite including high-field MRI and 16-slice CT
- A dedicated intensive care unit (ICU) for unstable cases and cases with co-morbidities
- A multi-disciplinary approach for unexpected anaesthetic emergencies with specialists in anaesthesia and emergency medicine
Our orthopaedic team work closely with our Anaesthesia and Analgesia team to ensure pets are comfortable. We have an established Pain Clinic for those pets that need additional treatment modalities to control their discomfort.

Rob Adams

Rob, originally from South Wales, graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2008. After spending a number of years in first-opinion practice, he moved to Davies Veterinary Specialists, in Bedfordshire, to undertake a residency in small animal surgery. After obtaining specialist status Rob stayed on at Davies Veterinary Specialists as an orthopaedic surgeon. In 2019 Rob moved to Northern Ireland to help set up and lead Northern Ireland’s first specialist led small animal hospital as co-clinical director. During his tenure here he also started co-hosting the BBC Sounds’ podcast ‘Alright, Pet?’ with animal lover Anne-Marie Wallace. On the show they chat to famous pet owners such as Eamonn Holmes, Carol Baskin, and Sports commentator Andrew Cotter. They celebrate the bond we all have with our pets, offering advice and help to listeners. Whilst topics on the podcast are very broad, at work Rob is mostly interested in elbow dysplasia, arthroscopy, fracture repair and joint replacement.

Turlough graduated from the Veterinary College of Ireland, University College Dublin in 1987. After 2 years in mixed practice in Ireland, Turlough moved to Australia when he spent time in a number of large institutional hospitals before managing a small animal practice.
He became a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in 1996 and completed a Masters of Veterinary Studies and a residency in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Melbourne.
Turlough returned to the UK as a lecturer in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Liverpool in 2000. He successfully passed the Royal College Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (2002) and then the European Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (2005).
He moved to private surgery referral practice in West Yorkshire for 10 years before a short stint in the North East before returning to the North West. Turlough enjoys all aspects of orthopaedic surgery including arthroscopy and spinal surgery.
Dan Kenny

Clinician in Small Animal Surgery
Dan qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2013. He worked in England and Australia before joining the team at Paragon in 2018. He completed his rotating and surgical internships at Paragon and went on to complete his ECVS Residency in Small Animal Surgery in December 2023. He is a certificate holder in Small Animal Surgery and currently sees both soft tissue and orthopaedic cases. Dan enjoys all aspects of surgery but has a particular interest in head and neck surgery, thoracic surgery, and surgical oncology.
Davide Malucelli

Davide qualified from the School of Veterinary Medicine at University of Milan. After spending a year working in Italy, he moved to West Yorkshire and worked in first opinion practice for three and a half years. Davide joined Paragon Referrals in 2020 and completed a rotating internship and a surgical internship. He then started a three-year small animal surgery residency in 2023. Davide enjoys all aspects of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery.
