Nursing Disciplines

Our Surgical nurses continually develop their anaesthesia and theatre skills. Working alongside our Orthopaedic, Soft tissue, Ophthalmology and Neurology Surgeons they will assist with a varied caseload of interesting procedures. With our Anaesthetist on hand our nurses can build on their knowledge and gain a greater insight within this discipline.

The Oncology nurses are an integral part of the team and will assist the clinicians with our Oncology patients throughout their journey within Paragon. You will get the opportunity to develop your anaesthesia and diagnostic skills during their work ups and be trained by our specialist to administer Chemotherapy treatments under supervision. Compassion and good communication skills are vital as aspects of this role are client facing. We believe that by educating our clients we can give them the opportunity to provide optimum care for the life of their pet.

Working alongside our clinicians you will be involved in a variety of diagnostic procedures. Our diagnostic nurses will rotate through dedicated suites for Ultrasonography, Endoscopy, CT, MRI and Radiography. Our Diagnostic nurses are responsible for scheduling the day’s procedures ensuring the flow of procedures are successfully carried out.  You will get the opportunity to develop existing skills and clinical knowledge, as well as assisting with gold standard care. You will develop your anaesthesia skills as you are often dealing with acute or chronically ill patients. The diagnostic nurses also look after our inhouse laboratory and are required to perform tests required by our specialists.

Rotating through our wards including ICU, nurses care for a range of patients with simple to complex needs. The role is extremely rewarding and our nurses utilise a variety of skills & methods including care and placement of feeding tubes, chest drain management, airway management and physiotherapy.
